At last, I started to write some entries of this blog in English. Though my English is still too poor to express my ideas well, anyway I'm going to write(at least better than speaking, I guess;-)).
Now I'm studying product design at Royal College of Art in London after 9 years work as an engeener for an electronics device manufacturer in Tokyo. Since I am not a MA student but a PEP(Post Experience Programme) student, I have only one year here. I've already spent more than half of the time(!) (so I feel like pressed for time a little bit) and I think I have to make progress in particular with my own project - tentatively called 'project JayMews' or JM.
The goal of JM is to make our lives richer by enhancing our creativity. Although this might sounds like naive, I believe it's getting seriously important in this era of globalization, particularly for those who live in developed countries. In this (at best) low-growing economy, we have to find a sustainable way to enrich our lives without resort only to material abundance. Furthermore, as workers those people need to be crearive using thier 'Right Brain' as mentioned in the article of Wired 'Revenge of the Right Brain'.
In terms of business, this also could be a huge opportunity. Since last half of 20th century, electronic industry has benefited from entertainment delivery business. Each time a new innovation (like TV, VCR, Walkman, CD and so on) reduce the potential cost of delivery of entertainment contents, it made profits. Finally having low-cost IP-based network, this potential cost is getting close to zero. On the other hand, IT or electronics technology also pulled down the cost of creation but it's still high for ordinary people.
Though Richard Watson (I don't know well who he is...) cast doubt on the quality of work related to the nature of the space in his article 'Smart Space' on FAST COMPANY, I wish I could find a way to release the potential creativity of ordinary people and to share the pleasure of creation not only with elite professional designers but also everyone who has creative mind.
-this entry might have been somewhat too serous. this looks like an introdunction of dissertation, doesn't it?! I'll change the tone next time ;-)
Hello.I found it interesting to read the article about the 'Smart Space', because I had been reseaching about office spaces in my laboratory in Japan. By the way, do you have the books which you show on the blog, "Realising Design" or "ヒューメインインターフェース" ? If you have those books now, could I borrow them??

Thank you for your comment, eriko. I'm also interested in your research :-)
(And of course, I can lend some books)
